Is this YOUR Chinese supplier/spammer?

Brain dead + Spam = Bad supplier
I stumbled upon this particular gem of a posting in a Terri Schiavo forum* (I believe this was particular one was posted by “eastern curio“). Normally, I ignore the numerous spam postings by “Chinese antique furniture factories” however, felt this particular example was so steller, that it should be pointed out. At best, it demonstrates a complete total lack of cultural sensitivity (and in such poor taste).
If your supplier is unable to understand the most basic socially accepted practices, how can you trust them to get you the product you selected, on time and in good condition, without skipping details (important to you but not them) or swapping out the items you selected.
I did a bit of “googl’ing” and I was amazed at how many blogs had been “spammed-up” in their comments section by (I am ashamed to say) factories in our industry. Here is a short sampling of what came up on just the first few pages:
- Film Blog: La firma invitada (Spammers: easterncurio, chineart, & antiquesbeijing)
- luchando siempre (Spammers: easterncurio, chineart, & antiquesbeijing)
- QUIENES SOMOS (Spammers: easterncurio, chineart, & antiquesbeijing)
- Cuento de Bruxas
The question is, is THIS who is filling your order? Is your supplier also a SPAMMER? What does this tell you about the manner in which they do business?
* If you already forgot who Terri Schiavo was, she was the woman who was in a persistent vegetative state for years. Her husband wanted to let her die by pulling the plug, her family did not. It was quite a controversy and ethical debate. Eventually she passed on.
Sept 2008 Update
Apparently I am not the only one annoyed by this:
Yes, it appears so, China is invading the western world, and the antiques’ world is not going to be spared.
Below is a message that we received on our VOIP, Skype.
“Dear ,we supply the antique furniture in china.we are the factory.Nice to meet you .”

THE PLACE FOR ANTIQUE SHANGHAI FURNITURE — by Steve Nadis
If you were an up-and-coming antique Shanghai furniture establishment trying to make your mark on the U.S. market, what would you do? If you were smart, like Jun He Antique Furniture, and wanted to reach the largest possible audience, you’d post a comment on the Call Me Snake, advertising your wares (antique chinese furniture of Ming & Qing style, copy antique furniture, wood carving, windows and screens, orient hardware, accessory, painting, Lighting & Lamp.) Which is just what Jun He Antique Furniture did. Other Chinese furniture outlets have also found the Call Me Snake comment box to be a most convivial (and rewarding) home. If you have any furniture to unload (stolen goods accepted), you could do worse than posting cryptic messages on Call Me Snake.
