Learning Mandarin Chinese: Lesson 052: Chinese Antiques.

Posted by Roger under: Chinese Culture .

Want to visit an antique market and learn about antiques in Mandarin Chinese?

I came across this Mandarin lessons online website which offers free lessons in learning to speak Mandarin Chinese. The lessons can be heard online or downloaded in mp3 format. Lesson 52 is specifically about Chinese antiques. Here is a small sampling of some of the vocabulary taught in the lesson.

  • si qi (陶瓷) = Porcelain, Chinaware
  • yu qi (玉) = Jade, Jadeware
  • gu dong (古董) = Antique
  • jia de (伪造)= Fake
  • hong mu (红木) = Redwood, Mahogony

This could be useful on buying trips and a bit fun as well, if you a not a Mandarin speaker. Visit this link for the rest: http://www.melnyks.com/lesson-fifty-two-chinese-antiques/
